Pallid Harrier

Pallid Harriers… awesome birds.

Luckily in Kazakhstan they are not uncommon.

Pallid Harriers were seen most days, particularly at Chokpak.  Superb views of birds flying along the ridge were a regular site with up to half a dozen birds each day.

For Paul a life ambition was achieved, the ringing of the 1st year male pallid harrier…

Paul achieving one of his life's ambitions...

1st year male pallid harrier (Chokpak 14 September 2013)

Stunning….

For me one of the most disappointing sites was seeing a male pallid harrier flying into the Helgoland on our last morning only for it to turn round and fly back out.  So for me, I'll have to wait another year before I get to grips with one.
