Hobby (Falco Subuteo)

One of the most beautiful birds I've ever ringed.

Hobbys were very common throughout our visit, particularly so at Chokpak where they were always present.  Breeding birds hung around the trapping area and were frequently accompanied by migrant.

Although ever present, they were very adept at avoiding the traps.  However, we eventually managed bag a couple.

A beautiful juvenile hobby

Paul had the dubious pleasure of extracting these two from the Helgoland.
Don't be fooled by their cuteness…. they're vicious!
