Goshawks were seen regularly during the two weeks including a migrant flying over Almaty on our first morning in Kazakhstan. One or two goshawks were seen most days at Chokpak and a female was recorded on 7th and 8th September at Lake Kyzylkol.
On the 8th she had been seen flying around our catching area and later she tried to get a quick snack in the form of a Blyth's reed warbler which was in one of the mist nets.
